Students’ Council

West Guwahati College of Education sets a date after new admission for the student council. For the formation of the students’ council, WGCE asks the students about their concerns and opinions of the institute. The student council plays a proactive role in various activities at WGCE:

• Identifies the problem.
• Helps in solving the problems encountered by students in the institute.
• Raises their voice in academic activities.
• Organizes various activities and projects.
• Enhances the academic experience.
• Supports for development.
• Involves other students in purpose-oriented activities.
• Leads every individual for getting their education with self-respect.
• Reflects and interprets the student’s viewpoint honestly.
• Creates harmonious relationships among students’ body, faculty, administration.
• Provides a viable means for students’ expression and an increasing amount of self-direction.
• Stops ragging within campus.
• Increases students’ involvement and college pride.
• Contributes to the educational experiences in the institution by providing them with positive involvement.

It is a forum for student opinions, interests, and desires so that these are understood by the entire student body, faculty, administration. It keeps the college environment healthy and well-functioning. It is for the college to conduct various programs like cultural, sports, community programs. It is a nice platform for students to raise their voice, ideas, and interacts.

As per the direction by the Governing Body of the college, every year class representative was elected by the students. Class Representative (C/R) (both boys and girls) work with the IQAC cell to organize various seminars, lectures, tasks, orientation programs, tree plantation, field trips, community programs, door-to-door campaigns, annual magazines, etc.

The Students’ Council is the representative body of the entire student’s community of WGCE. Its mission is to encourage and promote the values that represent good character in all students and build responsible leaders within the student community.

The committee member goes to the class and calls for application from the students for the C/R post and conducts elections in the class and announces the result immediately. The elected candidate represents the class known as class representative (C/R) and other secretary of different sections are also announced. After the election is over, the principal and other faculty in charge of different sections conduct personal interviews of elected secretary discusses their roles and duties and responsibilities among them for the following 2 years with peace and harmony. The undertaking is issued to different portfolios countersigned by the in charge to the elected/selected members of the student’s council.
